Upolu Move your mouse pointer over the red dots to see what it is.
The island of Upolu is about 70 km long and 20 km broad. Most of the white sandy beaches are on the south side of the island and the north side offers a beautiful rocky coastline. To get from the north to the south you need to drive over the mountain which climbs up to 950 meter at its highest point. From the top of the island you will have the most beautiful view over either the north or the south coast. Give yourself time to explore for a few days to find the fantastic waterfalls, beaches and traditional villages. Why not renting a car and do it all in your own time. Savaii Move your mouse pointer over the red dots to see what it is.
Savaii is also called the big island as it is a little bit bigger than Upolu (70 Km long 50 Km broad). The main village is Salelologa with shops, banks and restaurants. This is also were you arrive with the ferry from Upolu. The roads on Savaii are very good and if you have a car you will be able to see the beautiful waterfalls, blow-holes, and the most western point before the date line in one day. With the bus you just need to be more Samoan and not to care about the time. Apia Move your mouse pointer over the red dots to see what it is.
Apia is the Capital of Samoa with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Today you will be able to find almost anything you want which was not the case a few years ago. A big attraction is the food market with lots of fruits and vegetables but also traditional items like carvings, mats and coconut products. The flea market has more T-shirts and "ie lavalava" (samoan wraps). A walk on the sea wall by the harbor is a delight by itself.
